Let's Go For A Drive!

We're going back in time to last week and the drive we took after our appointments with our new doctor. (I have lots of photos in this post, so I reduced the size of most of them. As always, click on any photo to see a larger version.) Since most of you will never visit us during the winter, we'll take you on a drive up Hwy. 41 to our property. Buckle up!

We're now heading into Phoenix (Michigan, of course!).

The building on the right is a small old-fashioned general store. Arbutus is the proprietor. Hwy. 26 splits from Hwy. 41 here. Turn left on Hwy. 26 if you want to go to Eagle River.

But, we'll continue straight on Hwy. 41 instead.

We're now approaching our corner. We'll turn left here onto the Eagle Harbor Road (aka The Cutoff Road).

Notice this view on your left immediately as we turn onto our road.

About 1/4 mile down is our neighbor's driveway. They live in Illinois and visit only during the summer, so the driveway isn't open. You can barely see their address sign.

Here's our driveway. Let's turn in.

We'll pull in just a bit and stop here. Our gate is open. Can you see part of it there in the snow on the lower left?

If you look to your right, you'll see this.

If you look to your left, you'll see this. Yes, that's snow that has been cleared from our driveway.

Let's pull ahead now.

 There's the barn.

The guys shoveled off our barn roof again. Whew! That's a lot of snow!

Let's continue past the barn and go around the bend to the left.

Here's the house! We have some new photos of the interior and exterior, but we'll show you those on Monday or Tuesday! Sorry, you'll just have to wait. (That was a trapezoid teaser!)

Let's turn around and start back down the driveway,

past the barn again,

and had back out to the road.

No cars are coming, so we'll turn right onto the Eagle Harbor Road.

We turned right again to get back onto Hwy. 41.

Heading back into Phoenix, we get a better view of the historic church. It's open to tourists in the warmer months.

Let's continue past the cliffs again.

We'll stop the tour here, as I already showed you photos of the snow as we drove through several small towns and headed back into Calumet. It was a nice day for a drive. Thanks for riding along with us.

All is well in the Keweenaw.
