Like a well, it is always springing up, not with musty, stale water, but with fresh water that has never sparkled in the sun before.... Let us go to this fountain and drink...."
Isn't that great? He referred to the Bible as "this new book." It obviously wasn't new - even back in 1861 - but he meant that it's always fresh. We can always learn something new from it. God can use a verse we've read hundreds of times in a new and different way to teach us something we haven't seen before. It was true in 1861, and it's true in 2015. What a blessing!
